GUEST POST!! and an explanation

“I believe in Christ like I believe in the sun – not because I can see it, but by it I can see everything else.” – C. S. Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia.

I think it’s time I’m clear about something, something many of you may have picked up from my previous posts and podcast episodes: I am a Christian. The way I believe often shines through in everything I do, and I often find echoes of these beliefs in the world around me, including in my fandoms. I know of no better way to say this than to quote the creator of one of the greatest fandoms of all time, one of the fathers of modern fantasy.

“We have have come from God, and inevitably the myths woven by us, though they contain error, will also reflect a splitered fragment of the true light, the eternal truth that is with God.” – J. R. R. Tolkien, author of The Lord of the Rings.

I’ve invited one of my very good friends, Audrey, to write a guest post for this blog touching on this matter. She and I, along with tons of other fans, see our fandoms in this light, as reflecting those splintered bits of truth, and we wanted to share that view with you.

Thanks so much to you, my awesome readers, and thanks again to Audrey! 🙂

  1. Wow. Audrey, all your points are amazing. Romans 8:24-25 says, “For in this hope we are saved. But hope that is seen is not hope, for who hopes in what he sees? But if we hope for what we so not see, we wait with patience.” This is one of my favorite verses. The Rogue One crew had no idea what was going to happen. There was just as good a chance that they would fail as that they would succeed. But they still hoped, going forward with a brave plan to free the Galaxy from the Empire’s evil. In the first trailer for Star Wars: Rebels’ fourth and final season, Hera Syndulla describes the Empire as “an evil so great, it threatened to blot out the suns” (*note: I think that’s how it went, but I may have paraphrased). Jyn, Cassian, Bodhi, Chirrut, Baze, and K-2SO were willing to lose it all for hope. Hope for a better tomorrow. We aren’t promised a tomorrow at all, let alone a good one. But we have hope. And EVERYTHING, not just Rebellions, are built on hope. On hope and faith in the One True God.

  2. When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each
time a comment is added I get several emails with the same comment.

Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
    Many thanks!

    1. Are you still having trouble with this? Or were you able to get it figured out?
If not, there should an option within the emails you receive to “unsubscribe” from new comments. I hope this helps, and thanks for checking out the blog!! 😊
